Dear Aledo UMC Family,

Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ. 

On Sunday, March 15th, the Aledo UMC Administrative Council met.  We discussed the current status of the Coronavirus (COVID_19) and its impact on Aledo UMC.  We all agree the best way we can honor God is to align fully with public efforts to stem the tide of COVID-19. 

As of yesterday, the CDC is recommending that for the next 8 weeks, in-person events that consist of 50 people or more be cancelled or postponed.  The IL Dept of Public Health has closed schools and bars/restaurants from March 17th to 31st in an effort to promote social distancing to prevent the spread of the disease.  These unprecedented measures are aimed at containing the outbreak so that our public health resources are not overwhelmed.

Due to these recommendations, the Ad Council at Aledo UMC has cancelled and/or postponed all AUMC activities from March 17 through the 31st.  The staff will remain working during this time.  The Worship Committee will determine how Sunday messages for the 22nd and 29th can best be broadcast via Facebook Live.  Once those plans are set, we will send an update.   

During this difficult time where we can’t gather together for fellowship and worship, the Admin Council would like to ask that everyone please continue their donations to the church so that we can continue to support our staff members, our church members and our community. If you would like to make a special donation to any of the community outreach ministries, for example: Loving Hands, Caring Hearts, the Food Pantry, please send those additional monetary donations to the church office. 

The Administrative Council will be meeting again on March 29th to assess the situation and government recommendations at that time.  We will continue to update you as decisions on next steps after April 1st are made.
